AHTGB: Prayer Workshop

d7005deac3b7218c90fb8d3fc298406b

Hi everyone! I apologize for the long delay! As this class details, our family (my husband) is going through a health crisis, and do ask and desire your prayers! Therefore, the class I taught on prayer is very personal as the principles it contains reflect the very processes we are undergoing. This I can tell you. God is faithful. He has given us a peace that surpasses all understanding. He has broken down barriers of confusion and given us the gift of clarity. He has revealed Himself as sovereign. Honestly, we are in awe at the reality that the spiritual processes of the heart are very similar to those of the physical body. Simpy put – GOD IS REAL! He reigns and rules – He is a powerful Comforter, a capable Healer. He’s the Great I Am. The One that was, and is, and is to come. We praise Him with every breath we take!

In your own life, you may also be facing some sort of crisis. It might be a relationship that is vulnerable. It might be the fear that life is passing you by without a sense of purpose. It might be a child that you love dearly destroying his or her life. Whatever it is, the reality of living in this broken world is that we have real needs and we need to meet and encounter a real God.  I know, in a very deep and personal way, that waiting can be painful, tormenting at times and can easily cause us to revert to survival. But can I encourage you not to retreat. Keep pressing forward. Keep pushing on.

My prayer is that this class along with the prayer itself will lift you, guide you and give you the courage to face whatever you are dealing with. I pray that you would see yourselves as seated in the heavenlies with Christ Jesus. I pray that you would be empowered to have no fear, because the perfect love of God casts it out. I pray that the reality of Warrior Jesus standing by your stand, taking on your cause, defending You, protecting You will make you brave.

In my distress I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me and rescued me. He is for me! How can I be afraid? What can mere man do to me? The Lord is on my side; he will help me. Let those who hate me beware. It is better to trust the Lord than to put confidence in men. It is better to take refuge in him than in the mightiest king! – Psalm 119:5-9  (TLB)

May God bless you Christmas, your New Year season and all the days in between.

Prayer Workshop

power-of-prayer

This past week we stopped for a moment from the material and received some tools to be equipped to pray!  While some of us don’t feel “spiritual enough” to pray “right”, we must understand that if we simply pour ourselves before the Lord in such a manner that welcomes Him into our situations, He will move heaven and earth on our behalf. Plugging into prayer isn’t a “how to” list. It is actually plugging into His Person – and being aligned with His character first and foremost. In other words, we don’t receive from a God that is distant and detached – we receive from a God who holds our hand tightly and walks directly into our personal circumstances. A God who is intimately acquainted with our pain and needs. That’s the kind of Jesus we want to get to know and pursue.

I pray that God will bless and keep you as you move through the holidays. I look forward to seeing you again on January 6!

AHTGB Chapter 5: Intimacy Courts

10153944_10153325058574552_8925370607017584559_n

As we prepare for the busy season, this class is intended to be a road map of the process we will be pursuing in the weeks to come. I I believe there is a vital need to understand the purpose of intimacy and how and where it can be misaligned. Our culture speaks so many things that contradict God’s purpose for intimacy. Not only that, intimacy is where we are the most wounded. This class focused on the nature of God’s call in our lives – how He wants to bring us into the freedom of relationship with Him, and how that will eventually translate into the realigning of all our relationships.

Most of all, as we pursue this season and all it contains, may He became the goal and the gift. May you understand that “knowing Him” is the miracle of all miracles. And may you not back down until the reality of His presence, His power, His goodness and His nature is deposited deeply in your heart.

Chapter 6: Facing Denial

Truth-or-Lies

We looked at the principle of denial this week – and above anything I want to encourage each of you in the journey. This stuff isn’t easy, but it’s worth it. I want to share some of the thoughts I had on facebook regarding denial and the reason why we need to face the past. God wants to recreate our future, but not without facing the things that had hurt us in the first place. The reason for this is massive. The past is the present if we don’t have the opportunity to cleanse away the residue the past created.

Here’s my thoughts I shared earlier this week:

Typically, this seems to be a difficult conversation for us to have. It sounds like a dreaded pathway of pain and torment. At least that’s what the enemy of our soul would like us to believe. In reality, it can be the place that brings the most relief as we learn to stop believing LIES as TRUTH. In some ways, we are asking God to part our own “Red Seas” – the massive and deep waters of our life experiences that seem impossible to sift, sort and walk through! We are asking God to perform our own miracle – to reveal the difference between the false beliefs we have acquired and the reality of His perspective.Just as the Red Sea was parted to allow the Israelites to trade bondage for freedom, so this enormous “sea” of beliefs in front of us can also begin to part and clear the pathway to our personal freedom. If we choose to begin to walk through the things that God reveals, we get to learn to press forward – to move ahead – to find the place of God’s calling, personal destiny, purpose and significance WITHOUT THE PAST HOLDING US CAPTIVE. It may not happen immediately, but it can happen. That is a biblical fact! Can I encourage anyone who is struggling to not give up before the miracle? Don’t look at the “sea” as though its power can somehow outdo God’s power. EVERYTHING that’s brought under His authority will be forced to experience His intervention – the past, present and future.

Codependence Workshop 6

Next week:

Prayer! We will be taking time off the book process and resume this after the holidays. When we come back we will dive into what I like to refer as “deliverance”. This is the access tool to eventual freedom. For right now, I feel it’s imperative to learn how to pray through this season in your life. So we will be doing a prayer workshop – where I don’t just pray with you, I want to teach you to how to have powerful and effective prayers.

AHTGB Chapter 4: Soul Ties

soul ties
Well, we dove right into it today, didn’t we? Understanding Soul Ties and the transmission that occurs in relationships is an essential starting point. But this is truly only the beginning. This class will help us to look and understand both what we are giving and injecting into our relationships, and what we are receiving from others. It should be remarkably clear how much our relationships require God’s resources, and how desperately unable they work apart from Him. Thus, survival living simply did all it knew how to do: get needs met.

I want to encourage you that learning these principles is NOT to condemn you. It’s is to help you walk with God and see life from His perspective. God’s call in our lives relationally is going to be to love. This is crazy different from codependence love. But it is still radical.

Are you ready to have eyes to see and have a heart to carry the burdens for people God carries? Do you want more than just the surface level experience that really lacks substance? Strap on your seat belt. We are going for a ride – and the destination is God’s heart!

Next Week:

Read Chapter 5 and complete the homework assignment. This is a very cool principle we will be extracting throughout this book; if you are curious or interested, do some additional bible reading over the holiday on the Old Testament temple. It is simply amazing and such a potent and powerful picture of how He designed our lives.

Intro to Coda: Chapter 5 – Surrender

copy-of-the_cross_16

The topic of surrender came to us on a cold and rainy day in Southern California! Yes, we are spoiled rotten and rain practically shuts us down completely! Still, alot of people managed to show up and display the commitment to work through this. I have been amazed to witness the faithfulness! For those of you who couldn’t make it – no shame here! Just for the record, I too cancelled an afternoon appointment and I completely understand.

Still, I want to impress on you the importance of this class. There is no subject more needful or difficult to comprehend than surrender. In this single principle EVERYTHING is laid on the line. Surrender will determine the outcome from here on out.

Rather than explain what we discussed today, I encourage you to listen or watch the webinar recording. If you are reading this in the blog post, be sure to click inside to access the audio (it doesn’t show up on the e-mail). I pray that you will find, as we did, that God truly did show up today.

Today’s class is also preparing us for the courageous journey of self-examination that will be dealt with in Chapter 6. This is where faith will need to take over and we will need to believe that God can deal with the hurts that we have carried. It’s also where some give up and go back to a lifestyle they feel unable to change. Can I encourage you to press into the character of God and call Him out on the basis of His Word RIGHT NOW? Can I challenge you to bring to Him your need and ask Him to do for you what you can’t do for Yourself? Can I just implore to NOT GIVE UP! God is real, He does care for You, and He has a plan in everything right now. His only requirement? Give it to Him.

REMINDER! NO CLASS WEEK OF THANKSGIVING!

This chapter reminded us of something we often want to bypass: growth must happen, and growth takes time. Usually we enter into recovery and healing with an ideal of an outcome. Certainly God wants to perform that. However, at the very same time we must learn that the building process, just like a physical construction site, has to happen gradually and in sync with the total picture of what God is doing (blueprint). Growth requires more patience than “zaps.”

But it is in the place where we truly allow God to perform what needs to be done on our behalf that we gain access to the miracle of grace. While God is in “process”, we don’t have to be perfect. We can recognize the areas that need changing; we can pray for our part; but He doesn’t require that we get it together overnight…

We can recognize the areas that need changing; we can pray for our part; but He doesn’t require that we get it together overnight. His style and method of building cares about our well-being, and seeks to bring us into the intended design for our lives. Yet, He isn’t bothered by the “messiness” that occurs.

My encouragement to you is to embrace where you at right now, even when it feels uncomfortable. Let the Master Designer of your life work; meticulously, to access what needs to be done and it is a GUARANTEE straight from the Word of God that He will complete what He has begun!

“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns”. – Phil 1-6

Chapter 4: Love Systems

love-never-fails

WE ARE OFF NEXT WEEK!

This week we covered the topic of love. And what a topic indeed! The class focused mostly on the concept of needing access to God’s love in order to be able to give that love to others. We also looked at some of the faulty systems that can be resurrected when we don’t know how to connect to God. My number one priority in this workshop is to help articulate the need for us to be connected to God through authentic intimacy. The two greatest areas that causes people not to pursue God is a disbelief that He really loves, cares and is involved; and downright fear of what may happen if intimacy were to occur.

Be sure to read the chapter in context in order to get the full purpose of this chapter! What I teach on will not cover the specifics that are covered in the book.

AHTGB Chapter 2: Season of Preparation

Desktop-Bible-Verse-Wallpaper-Jeremiah-29-11

We had a great class yesterday, and thank you everyone who participated. We continue to learn how to make our phone discussion work, and we did experience a level of success! Thank you Jesus! I believe it’s vital that we hear from others, not just the perspective of the teaching itself.

We had an intense conversation on grief. While sometimes it seems like a topic we’d rather avoid, if we got honest, it’s at the heart of our lives. The greatest need we have is to learn how to both feel the pain, and experience God in His fullness. If that occurs, there is a guaranteed wealth of results! Topics such as grief, suffering and coping barely get attention in most mainstream circles of Christianity – and yet, this is it. Learning the gift of grief, release and true healing is far more satisfying than simply receive the desires of this world. Through this tool, pain is something we can embrace as part of the journey – rather than dread and run. Even better, it frames the Author of this world and ushers us into the reality of the presence and power of God. He really does reign in the midst of a broken world. And He really did overcome!
